A trip north for the wedding of a special young lady and her man.

When Greta phoned me a year ago to tell me she was engaged and to keep the first weekend in September free for her wedding I was excited and very happy for her. Her next comment - 'She would love for me to be her celebrant.' totally bowled me over. What an honour for an ex-teacher to have one of your students, now all grown up to ask you to have such an important role on the day of her wedding! In the lead-up, whenever Greta and her Mum were in Brisbane on 'wedding business', I would head down for a coffee or lunch with them - which was always fun, but I didn't get to meet Pete in person until the day before the wedding. However with both of them doing an A+++ job on the 'homework' I had given them to complete, I felt that I knew him really well and gained a very strong that he was just right for this special young lady. This was one ceremony where sending the draft off to the couple for comment was just like submitting an assignment - after all, over the years I had commented on, advised and corrected Greta's work so many times, and now it was her turn ....

So, off to Cairns my lovely hubby and I travelled.

The wedding was at Kewarra Beach Resort - and when I first saw it, I knew why Greta and Pete had chosen it - nestled on the edge of the forest with the beach and the ocean right there, this is a beautiful location for a celebration, without the usual challenges of a beach wedding.
The bride, on her Dad’s arm, walked down a lovely wooden walkway, surrounded by a beautiful natural archway of tropical palms to the outdoor deck amidst the paperbark forest on which her family and friends were gathered and her groom was waiting.

Having children in the wedding party is always fun, and Greta had her lively nephew, Isaiah, as ring bearer - once he delivered the rings to bride and groom's mothers, he went off to play, and two lovely ladies whom Greta was nanny to for a year, Emily and Oliver, were her gorgeous flower-girls.

As a lovely and very special touch to involve their mothers in the ceremony, and to acknowledge their importance to each of them, Greta's mother presented Pete with the wedding ring he was to give to Greta and Pete's Mum did the same for Greta. This was a very poignant moment for these two Mums - as it was for everyone present.

Pete & Greta - I loved being a part of this very special day in your lives and look forward to sharing of many more years of friendship with you both. Thank you.

Wed under Clovelly's Jacaranda tree

With our run of wet weather this year, it was touch and go whether or not Brad & Cathy would get their garden wedding. The weather gods played nicely and so under the mighty Jacaranda tree in the beautiful Clovelly gardens, Brad and Cathy became husband and wife.

This was a beautiful family affair with their girls being VIP guests. After the guests were in position, Brad with his two lovely on either side, entered, followed by Cathy,also escorted by her two beautiful girls.

Cathy was very relaxed, having enjoyed some special pampering at the hands of the lovely fold at Clovelly Spa and a morning with Mel of Velvet Hair, Montville having her hair and make-up done.

I just love this photo - the clasped hands say it all - we're now married and that's how we intend to stay!

Congratulations Cathy and Brad, I wish you much happiness and long years to enjoy each other.

Spicers Clovelly Estate Montville

Dropped into, the always lovely, Spicers Clovelly Estate this evening to have the last minute paperwork completed for tomorrow's wedding. The bride had just come for a very special spa treatment and joined her groom and some close family and friends in the library for drinks before heading off to dinner at the Long Apron Restaurant. I know they are in for a real treat with dinner tonight.
Clovelly Estate is one of our country's most delightful get-away spots - whether it be for a wedding or just luxuriously relaxing time out from the cares of the world- I do love Clovelly wedding ceremonies.

Ideal for an intimate family wedding

I was chatting with the owners of Mala Kita, a beautiful home in Montville that is available for short term letting. Ever since first setting foot inside this award winning house over 3 years ago, I thought it would be a perfect venue for a small intimate wedding. The two terraced lawn areas are huge and, being very private with the beautiful views across the valley, would make a lovely setting for a wedding ceremony and cocktail reception in the warmer months. In the cooler months you could venture inside for a lovely dinner catered for by one of our fabulous out-caterers or chefs such as Senor Paella or Capelli Foods or you could all pitch in and do it yourself in the marvellous chef's kitchen. Red Roses and Romance at Flaxton Gardens

Imagine your groom waiting at the end of this aisle, with that lovely view for all of your guests to enjoy as they share these special moments with you. This is what awaits you for your wedding at the ever lovely Flaxton Gardens - this view never ceases to amaze me, especially on a lovely blue-sky, fluffy cloud day like this one.

Saturday's wedding was a wedding garden party - such a relaxed and romantic way to celebrate your love - beautiful red roses and candles adorned the ceremony area as well as the tables for guests to relax at as they enjoyed a Flaxton Gardens special - champagne high tea!

This young couple wanted a simple, fuss free garden wedding, yet wanted to keep it private and amongst their dearest family and friends. They achieved just this as their ceremony, although a little different from the norm, went off without a hitch. Of course the bride looked simply stunning in her ivory gown set of with gorgeous rose-red shoes. And her groom - so very handsome - and not the least bit nervous, just beaming with happiness and pride.

Love in the Air at The Spotted Chook, Montville

Jon and Suzi, along with gorgeous baby Willow chose the romantically quirky "Spotted Chook" for their wedding ceremony and reception afterwards.

With their loving and very close family gathered in the gazebo, the ceremony promised to be an emotional journey - and it was. The beautiful flowers and bouquets lovingly prepared and arranged by Jon's sister, her husband Bob singing and playing guitar and their daughter presenting a beautiful reading on Love during the ceremony and Suzi's close friend and sister-in-law as matron of honour, this was really a special family affair.

As always, Leroy, Jane and family from Spotted Chook ensured the celebrations went without a hitch as they served delicious canapes and champers immediately after the ceremony with everyone then experiencing unique and private dining experience, "Chook" style afterwards.

Last weekend saw another romantic elopement at Maleny's delightfully secluded Whispering Valley cottages. Set deep in the forest about 15 km west of Maleny, these cottages provide the perfect escape from the cares of everyday life. Perhaps more suited to a romantic get-away or a honeymoon, they were, nevertheless, a perfect place for a romantic elopement.

Anne-Marie and David chose to leave all their cares behind them, and treat themselves to a very special weekend away, and in the process, tie the knot in a very private, but romantic ceremony. There was just them, myself, Anne from the cottages and Brian Rogers, the indomitable Sunshine Coast Photographer present. Anne-Marie looked glowing and resplendent in her flowing gown tied with bronze sash and simply gorgeous high heels! When Brian had them traipsing out through the bush paths, I was glad it wasn't me in such lovely heels! With the very handsome David as her side, I am sure all went well and I am really looking forward to seeing the photos that Brian has produced.

David and Anne-Marie, thank you for entrusting such a special occasion to me and I wish you much happiness in your years together.

A wedding at Spicers Clovelly Estate is always special

I love going to Spicers Clovelly Estate to celebrate a wedding - David and Steph, along with the the indomitable Sam go out of their way to ensure everything is just as the happy couple wish it to be - and then some!
As we gathered for a rehearsal the day before Rebecca & Wesley's wedding the weather was threatening, but promising to clear as we all hoped it would because Rebecca really had her heart set on a garden wedding.
However - when we awoke on the morning of her wedding, showers that continued on into mid-afternoon were the order of the day.
Sam pulled a rabbit out of a hat by suggesting that we use the library verandah as the venue for the ceremony as, even though the rain had stopped, the ground was wet and risked spoiling Rebecca's beautiful dress. In next to no time Sam had the verandah set up so that it looked elegant and quite lovely and, with the blinds up, Rebecca had her garden wedding whilst still being protected from any possible rain and the chilly wind.

Rebecca was a stunningly beautiful bride and her beaming face told us all that absolutely nothing, not even a bit of rain could spoil her wedding day. And Wesley, when he first caught sight of his beautiful bride, well, I thought he was going to burst with love and pride!
Wesley and Rebecca - such a gracious couple, so in love and lovely - I wish you both many, many long years of joy together.

Married at last - they waited almost 40 years!

What an amazing story - as young teenagers in the sixties Allan & Helene were a 'couple' until life and jobs intervened and they each went their separate ways. Almost 8 years ago they met up again and discovered the old spark was still quietly burning and it didn't take a lot to fan it back into full blazing wonderful life again. And so they married, under the very special giant old tree at Halfmoon Hideaway in Maleny before their closest family and friends.

Working with this couple was quite an amazing journey from many perspectives - not the least being, that as we got to know one another, we discovered many mutual friends from years past so that by the day of the wedding if felt as though we were truly old friends!

Dear friends have been such an important part of their journey so it was quite wonderful that so many were engaged in different ways, as best suited their personalities, in the wedding ceremony.
With a movie theme - Helene dressed as, perhaps Lara, from that great love story, Dr Zhivago, escorted by Jadryn the alpacha, and Allan stepped straight from the Blues Brothers via the open topped Morris Minor that he arrived in! What a couple! What a celebration!

Their ceremony was as unique as they are as a couple and as individuals. This is a love story that has spanned the decades and finally the wheel has turned full circle and they are finally back in each other's arms, where they will stay for the rest of their lives.
Gillian from Halfmoon Hideaway was an absolute star offering help, assistance and good advice as they planned this most unique wedding ceremony and celebration.

Winter Elopements in Montville

Winter seems to be the time for elopements inMontville - whilst all couples must to lodge their 'Notice of Intended Marriage' with their celebrant the required one full calendar month beforehand, (it can be done by email with the original then posted) with an elopement there is little else to organise - a photographer to record your special day, perhaps some flowers to uphold some traditions and somewhere to celebrate with a delicious dinner and finally warm, romantic accommodation for a day or two away - all available in Montville.

Wayne & Sue kept their elopement very simple - they arrived at my house late morning, we completed the final paperwork and they then got changed into their wedding clothes. My lovely neighbours popped over to act as witnesses and we then proceeded with the ceremony. This lovely couple have been together for 25 years and just never quite got around to getting married, even though they always intended to do so. We celebrated with a glass of champagne afterwards, Wayne & Sue then changed back into their street clothes and headed off into the village for a spot of shopping (I believe 'The Candle Shoppe' was high on their list of places to visit) followed by a relaxing lunch at Elements before heading back home to Redcliffe to let their family in on their secret!

Simple, uncomplicated, very special and just what they wanted.

Katrina and Chris wedding at Spotted Chook, Montville

Katrina and Chris choose a rustic country, vintage theme for their wedding and so Spotted Chook, Montville was the perfect location.
Approximately 50 family and friends gathered under the Spotted Chook Gazebo for their delightful ceremony.
A very handsome Chris, with his two close friends by his side waited for Katrina to make her way from Amelie's Cottage to the gazebo. Katrina looked lovely in a champagne coloured antique lace gown and she was admirable supported be her 'brides-man' and matron of honour.

Both Katrina and Chris's Mums presented special messages for the couple as a part of the ceremony and all parents were invited to offer their personal blessings and support.

Immediately after the ceremony, Jane and Leroy from Spotted Chook, Montville served champagne and delicious canapes to the wedding party and their guests.

When I first met David and Alexzandra over a year before their wedding, I know they were a special couple and subsequent meetings confirmed this. David met his wee Irish lass in Sydney and from that moment he couldn't take his eyes off her. The glorious moment when David caught his first glimpse of Alex as his bride, when first stood in the doorway of Flaxton Garden's Barrell Room by her Dad's side is a special memory for me - he knows she is beautiful, but on her wedding day she surpassed all of his expectations!

The warm woolly scarf that David lent Alex on that first night brought them together initially and so we used it in the ceremony to permanently bind their lives together. This was such a touching, fun-filled moment that guests were both laughing and crying because they knew what it meant to Alex and David.

A Wedding of Gentle Romance at Clovelly Estate

The beautiful, romantic, intimate Clovelly Estate, nestled just 5 minutes from the Sunshine Coast Hinterland village of Montville was the chosen location for the wedding of one of the loveliest couples it has ever been my privilege to work with. Lars and Luanne's wedding was an event - they shared this most special of days with their closest family and friends, and then stayed on for a few days of relaxed pampering. The amazing staff at Clovelly, as usual, ensured their wedding day and their stay was memorable.

Luanne looked stunningly gorgeous in her strapless gown of floaty feathers beneath a light lace overlay - and Lars - so proud and handsome, perhaps just a wee bit nervous as he waited with his best man, David, but oh! the smile that spread across his face when he caught sight, first of their lovely children, and then of his bride walking so serenely towards him on her Mum's arm. It was such a special moment. And just before 'The Kiss' his whispered words - "Hello Mrs Roes."

The day may have been rainy and the ceremony moved indoors to the verandah, but the atmosphere amongst all present was one of warmth and sunniness. Lars and Luanne, may you be enjoying a cuppa together through all the long years of your lives.

A rustic wedding at Kenilworth

Kenilworth is just a 30 minute, very beautiful drive from Montville so I was delighted to be asked to officiate at Andrew and Heidi's wedding at Kenilworth Homestead. Andrew and Heidi have spent many relaxed weekends camping in the grounds here and so this is a special place for them.

They wanted a simple, relaxed and friendly ceremony under a gorgeous huge raintree by the cattle yards - actually in the middle of the yards. Heavy rain the day before meant a last minute change of plans and the ceremony was held in a marquee beside the old barn where they had gathered their family and friends for pre-ceremony drinks.

At the appointed time everyone wandered outside to the verandas and marquee and gathered for the ceremony. Heidi looked beautiful in her strapless, beaded gown and both she and Andrew positively glowed with smiles that threatened to burst from their faces!

With many of the guests staying the night at the Homestead, and others staying just a short drive away, I can only imagine the joyful celebrations went on well into the night. The old barn was beautifully decorated - the rustic timber walls and old tools set of the soft, gentle wedding decorations to perfection.

Intimate wedding in Secret's garden, Montville

The Queensland floods, meant that Steve and Abby's wedding became an intimate family affair - nevertheless I wanted to ensure it was to be a really special and memorable occasion for them.

The gardens at Secrets on the Lake, Montville are truly spectacular and amidst all the rain we have had lately, we awoke to a spectacular, blue sky, sunny day. After wandering around the gardens the afternoon before we decided to make use of these wonderful decks - the views are spectacular and the surrounding streams and waterfalls give a calm, relaxing ambiance.
We held the ceremony out on the decks to make the most of the background and then proceeded tot he shady gazebo for to sign the Marriage Register and Certificates.

Steve, along with his Mum and Dad and young son Riley, enjoyed the sunshine on the decks as we waited for Abby and her parents to arrive. When they did - it was worth the wait - Abby looked simply stunning in her gown with its 'olive' green sash that was to compliment the bridesmaids dresses.
Young Riley really enjoyed exploring each of the garden decks, the bubbling stream with its tiny fish and tadpoles and the waterfall. He made his presence known, when right in the midst of Steve's vows he tumbled into a marsh garden right next to us - just doing a little more exploring. It certainly gave Steve and Abby something to remember! He picked himself up and was quite ready to present the rings just moments later. What a boy!

Romantic Wedding at Montville Country Cabins

A good romance in real life is better than any book - and that is Keith and Debbie's story! They met through Murphy, Debbie's dog and after a few dinner and movie dates, they never looked back. Family and friends came from as far afield as Melbourne to celebrant with them.

Keith and Debbie choose Montville Country Cabins for a real country garden wedding. They and many of their guests stayed in the luxurious cabins and Anton and Christine, from the Cabins, had the grounds looking sparkling and wonderful, in spite of the tremendous amount of rain we had experienced in the previous week.

A shady spot under the lovely Jacaranda trees, with the beautifully flowering agapanthus in the background was the spot Keith and Debbie choose for their ceremony. After they exchanged their vows and enjoyed their first kiss as husband and wife, we ajourned to the nearby wagon-wheel seat to sign the Marriage Register.

'Flaxton Gardens' provided delicious cocktail food for their immediate celebration after the ceremony and they all enjoyed a delicious dinner there that evening.

Montville Mountain Lodge Wedding

With such spectacular views is it any wonder the very new Montville Mountain Lodge is becoming a popular place for weddings. It is big enough for a sizeable gathering with enough bedrooms for close family or friends to stay on as well.

This was where Smiley and Robyn chose to gather their closest family and friends to celebrant their marriage. The ceremony was held on the lawn overlooking the rainforest and Lake Baroon in the near distance and they celebrated later in the massive dining room.

The day threatened to rain, but we were lucky to encounter just a few drops in the minutes leading up to the ceremony and none throughout!

I did wonder a little at Robyn's choice of "Lady in Red" as their arrival music - until I saw her. And, didn't she look spectacular in her vivid red dress! It really matched her personality and colouring. I am looking forward to seeing their photos taken by Jason and Mandy at AWPP Studios.

Robyn and Smiley wanted a light hearted ceremony that captured their sunny personalities - and by the laughter amongst their guests, I guess that's what they got.

A Wedding on Chambers Island, Maroochydore

When I met Daisuke and Cate for our first meeting at rehearsal on New Year's Day, the day before their wedding, the rain was falling from the sky in bucket loads. Cate had returned from Japan for Christmas with her family and Daisuke had arrived just that morning so much of the preparation was done via email.
We rehearsed the wedding at Cate's parents home as that was their back-up venue and just talked through what we would do on the Island should the weather gods smile - and smile they did. May be Daisuke and Cate made some 'teru teru bozu' and hung them in the windows and sang: てるてるぼうず、てるぼうず
明日天気にしておくれ, いつかの夢の空のように,晴れたら金の鈴あげよ. (Teru-teru-bozu, teru bozu, Do make tomorrow a sunny day, Like the sky in a dream sometime, If it's sunny I'll give you a golden bell)

Whatever they did, it seemed to work as Sunday dawned fine and clear and the wedding went ahead at Cate and Daisuke's favourite Maroochydore spot. Cate looked quite lovely in a flowing gown with fabric roses over one shoulder and matched by her bridesmaids who wore a similar style in a teal colour. To reflect the Daisuke's Japanese heritages, all of the bridesmaids and flower-girls carried lovely white parasols.

This wedding was conducted in both English and Japanese to cater for the Australian and Japanese guests. After a lunch-time reception, Cate and Daisuke honeymooned at the lovely Rosebrook Cottages in Maleny.

A Romantic Wedding at Flaxton Gardens

Flaxton Gardens, 'Barrel Room' Wedding

Once again Flaxton Gardens excelled itself with an after Christmas wedding. The incredible amount of rain we have experienced in Queensland's 'big wet' meant that the escarpment gardens were not a viable option for our couple, Luke and Melissa. Georgina and her staff arranged for the ceremony to be held in the Barrel Room. Quite different from outside in the gardens, but what a lovely, atmospheric location for a romantic ceremony!

The rich red embroidered curtains made a beautiful backdrop for the lovely couple as they exchanged vows and joined with Mel's two boys in a Family Unity Candle Lighting Ceremony after the 'grown-ups' were pronounced husband and wife. This ceremony was such a warm loving family affair and it was lovely to see how the two boys took great pride in participating in the ceremony. Alisdair, Melissa's younger son supported Luke and helped to quell his nerves as he waited for Mel's arrival. Melissa, looking quite stunningly gorgeous, beamed as she was escorted onto the room by her elder son, Hamish who in a very gentlemanly manner passed her hand to Luke.

Secrets by the Lake, Montville - a perfect Montville wedding for a lovely couple.

This was truly a wedding ceremony to remember! I say it often, and it is heart-warmingly true - I am privileged to meet many wonderful people whose paths I probably would not cross if not for the work I do as a wedding celebrant - and Jason and Kirsty are one such couple.
First of all I met Kirsty - a vivacious live-wire with a core of steel (of the finest grade), a devoted Mum to their two gorgeous girls and just a lovely , lovely person. Then I read the words Jason wrote to me about his fiance and and really looked forward to meeting him - kind, gentle, strong, focussed - should I mention the hot Monaro? Or the motorbike that featured so much in their courtship?
They really are an amazing, very 'together' couple, and their girls - little balls of delightful, happy, dancing energy. Even though most of our communication in the lead up to the wedding was via phone calls and emails, I really felt that I had known them for ages by the time the wedding day rolled around.

Kirsty looked just beautiful in her traditional gown as she stood beside the very handsome Jason, and the girls in their pink fairy dresses almost stole the show. Jason and Kirsty celebrated the union of their families, their friends, themselves and their children with a special sand ceremony that was topped off with sands from Obi Obi Creek - the creek that fills Montville's Lake Baroon and flows over the dam wall to continue on its journey.

Jason and Kirsty - you are both very special people; may your journey together bring you continued happiness and fulfilment.

A Perfect Day for a Wedding

What a perfect location for a wedding! Blue skies and fluffy white clouds reflected in the clear waters of Lake Baroon. There are so many wonderful locations around Montville for a wedding, but down by Lake Baroon has to be among the best!

After days of drizzly, rainy weather, Jana and Galen's wedding day dawned clear, bright and sunny. They choose to celebrate their marriage on the lawn, lakeside at Montville's very special 'Secrets on the Lake'.

The old boathouse provided a lovely spot for guests to gather and enjoy a glass of champagne as they awaited the arrival of the beautiful bride.

Galen and Jana choose an wedding ceremony that simply spoke of their love for one another and their desire to live together as husband and wife. This was an intimate celebration of their love with close family and friends.

Ebb Waterfront - Maroochydore Wedding

Ebb Waterfront, right beside mouth of the Maroochy River provided a lovely location for Ian and Lara to exchange marriage vows in front of their many family and friends. Although the rehearsal afternoon proved to be cold, blustery and drizzling with rain, the wedding day dawned clear and remained so all day.

While Ian and his grooms-men, looking quite resplendent, were greeting guests on the deck, Lara and her bridesmaids were preparing for a spectacular nautical arrival! Yes, they took a boat ride down the river and alighted at the nearby jetty. Lara's Dad met them on the jetty and escorted his beautiful and very elegant daughter to Ian's side.

During the ceremony, Lara's brother presented the Snoopy poem "Best of Buddies" and, for sure, the words reflect how this young couple see themselves now and on into the distant future:

"Me and you, a two man crew.
Side by side, we're unified
And we will never be divided."

Following their celebrations, Ian and Lara enjoyed a honeymoon in Port Douglas.

Spotted Chook, Montville Wedding

As a marriage celebrant I have the incredible privilege of being invited into the lives of some very wonderful people. Ron and Celeste are such a lovely couple - very different individuals, yet in such harmony with one another. Their wedding day at Spotted Chook, Montville, in spite of the rain, was just lovely - very spiritual, in keeping with their personal values and beliefs, and involving special people in their lives. Ron was supported by his son Peter, whilst his two lovely daughters Hannah and Heidi, preceded Celeste who arrival proudly escorted by her lovely Mum, Kathleen. Other family members and close friends participated in various ways in the ceremony and the reception that followed.
After the ring exchange, Ron and Celeste celebrated their union through a candle lighting and Blessing of the Light ceremony.

Ron's 'Hot Rod', parked outside Amelie's Cottage, provided a lovely light hearted back drop to their wedding photos taken by Deborah Boots.

Romance at Clovelly Estate

Dale and Jaime had planned to wed beneath the beautiful Jacaranda tree in the gardens of Clovelly Estate, Montville. Some heavy rain meant a move to the veranda was necessary, but they didn't let that spoil their special day. In fact, it gave their photographer, John Reyment, the opportunity to take some dramatically beautiful shots after the ceremony.

Dale's eyes filled with tears of awe and joy when he first spied Jaime, on her Dad's arm, wearing her stunning silk 'Fiorenza' gown and carrying a bouquet of lovely cream tulips prepared by Mel from Flourish Design of Montville. Jaime entered to the gentle sounds of Pachalbel's Canon in D Major, played by Angel Strings.
Hand in hand, looking into each other's eyes as they spoke their vows from their heart - they looked quite stunning! Joyous laughter and tears abounded.

This was a lovely intimate celebration of love and commitment - celebrated later with close family and friends over a degustation dinner at Clovelly's 'The Long Apron' restaurant.

A Montville Rainforest Wedding for Karla and Joel

Karla and Joel were wed at Tree Houses of Montville in the quiet lushness of the rainforest understory. With the carolling of the birds and the babbling waterfall below as music, they exchanged vows and committed themselves to each other. Their guests gathered on the two platforms above and Karla made a grand entrance on her Dad's arm as she slowly descended the steps to the bottom platform where Joel was waiting. She looked lovely in her almost Grecian gown with her lovely curls cascading down her back. This private, somewhat secluded spot may not be the easiest place to take candid photographs, but it is certainly a very romantic place to hold one of the most important ceremonies of one's life!

Jason and Pam Marry at Clio's on Rosemount

Jason and Pam choose to celebrate their marriage at Clio's on Rosemount - sister venue to Clio's at Palmwoods and just as lovely. Jason and Pam are two very different people, yet their connection is something quite special to witness. This 'tough Aussie bloke' has a real marshmallow heart (soft and sweet) and it was so very touching to see Jason's heart swell with emotion and immense pride at the first sight of his beautiful bride in her georgous A-line strapless gown, as Pam began her walk down the aisle to stand with him after her dramatic arrival in a open-topped Mercedes convertible!
Romantic red was the theme for the day and beautiful red roses adorned the aisle and the gazebo in which the ceremony was held. Jason and his grooms-men looked very swanky in their long line suit jackets and red rose button-holes which complimented the lovely Pam's rose bouquet and her attendants lovely red gowns.

Jason and Pam enjoyed a relaxing and romantic honeymoon in Fiji.

Mary Cairncross Park Wedding

Oh what beautiful day for a wedding in Mary Cairncross Park, Maleny! And another stunning location in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland for a wedding.

Russell and Rebecca, being locals, know of all the best spots around for a wedding. They choose the Butterfly Platform just where the open parkland merges with the lovely rainforest of Mary Cairncross Park, Maleny. We were almost thoroughly drenched during the rehearsal the day before as a storm passed over us, but the wedding day proved clear and fine.

Russell and Rebecca faced many challenges together, each one making them stronger as a couple so it was a very real delight and honour to be a part of their magical wedding day! They were joined by family and friends from many parts of Australia as well as from New Zealand - People who know just how special this couple is and thus made the special effort to be with them as they made their pledges for life.

As a very special touch, Russell made a series of wire 'hearts' to line the pathway that Rebecca, her bridesmaids and her Dad walked along to the Ceremony Platform - just lovely!

This is a couple, not just 'in love' but deeply loving the other.

A First Wedding Camellia House, Palmwoods

Camellia House was once a pineapple farm, but the owners have transformed it into a lovely wedding venue - beautiful gardens full of, as one might guess, camellias and the old packing shed has been transformed into a rustic but very elegant reception venue. Paul and Amy choose this lovely venue to celebrate their wedding. Reflecting Paul's heritage, the wedding had a distinctly Scottish feel - Paul looked very handsome in his Black Watch kilt, and Amy was simply stunning in her ivory, almost Grecian gown. After they had exchanged vows and rings, Paul and Amy choose to seal their vows with a, ancient Handfasting ceremony, again using a Black Watch tartan bann for the handfasting.

The ceremony was to have been held in a lovely garden grove by the wee lake, but unfortunately the one day of rainy weather in the whole week meant that we had to move it inside. Nevertheless, we did not let this spoil the occasion it was still a beautiful ceremony, followed by a quite wonderful reception from all accounts!

Bob & Carmen wed at Tree Houses of Montville

Bob and Carmen are a truly lovely couple who crossed a lot of bridges to get to one another and they wanted a ceremony to reflect their journey, their growth and most importantly, their love for one another. Carmen's Mum travelled all the way from Switzerland for her daughter's wedding. The day before the wedding we all wandered around the lovely Tree Houses of Montville Resort to find the perfect location - we checked out the waterfall platforms - beautiful, but perhaps some of the steps were a little steep for guests in high heels to safely navigate, the gardens around the wee lakes - lovely for photographs, but perhaps not private enough for their ceremony. They finally settled on the verandah of Picnic Creek Cabin - where they were staying. This verandah was big enough to safely hold the 30 or so guests in attendance, overlooked a very picturesque lake and was surrounded by the forest, with the occasional visit by a scrub turkey. The dappled afternoon sun provided a lovely soft light for the proceedings. After the ceremony,they all enjoyed a special celebration at the Tree Houses Restaurant.

Another glorious day for a wedding at Flaxton Gardens

Brooke and James's wedding at Flaxton Gardens was a wedding with a difference. James, being from Ireland, wanted his family priest involved in his marriage ceremony so I had the great pleasure of meeting and getting to know Father H the night before the wedding as we worked out how we would co-present this very special ceremony - meeting all the requirements of Australian Law, whilst incorporating significant elements of James's Irish Catholic heritage and still ensuring a joyous and meaningful celebration of love and marriage.
James and Brooke are such a vivacious, bright and bubbly couple that anything less would have been meaningless for them and their family and friends. Father H was a delight to work with - highly intelligent with a great sense of humour, style and occasion. He included some special words on Love in his introduction of this young couple:

Jen and Ben's Spotted Chook, Montville Wedding

What a truly glorious day Jen and Ben were granted for their wedding. Jen and Ben asked for a ceremony that was warm-hearted and fun and, with their input- that's just what they got. The bridal party entered to the signature-tunes from well known family shows - "Growing Pains", "Perfect Stangers" and Jen and Ben they announced their arrival together to the theme song from "Family Ties". Quite perfect!

Family and friends contributed through the sharing of stories - Close friend, Linda shared a very moving chapter from Antoine Saint-Expuery's "The Little Prince" and Jen's Mum, Lorraine shared the picture story book "Instructions" by Neil Garmen.

The bridal party were simply stunning in their Victoriana-Steampunk inspired outfits. Jen looked gorgeous in her lace trimmed bronze gown as she stood by her man.

A Baby Blessing on the Range

A couple of weeks ago I had the very great pleasure of stepping in at the last minute to create, plan and present a wonderful Baby Naming and Blessing Ceremony for the Porter family of Melbourne.

The parents wanted a spiritual, but not religious ceremony and choose Montville for its beauty and its proximity to family who lived nearby and the Brisbane Airport for themselves and family who travelled for the occasion. I first met Mum and Dad and their beautiful, beautiful baby daughter at 4pm the day before the wedding - so after an hour or so together gathering information about what they wanted, it was a quick draft, off to see them again to ensure I was on the right track, and then a wee bit of midnight oil burning to polish and ensure all was as they wanted it to be. I am not sure if the highlight of the ceremony was Mum and Dad's anointing bub with precious oil or the grandparents together lighting her blessing candle - both were beautiful moments.

It was a joyful celebration of new life on the balcony of "Seadrift" with the lovely Sunshine Coast as a backdrop. Baby M - I wish you joy and happiness throughout your life.

Winter in Montville

Well, winter is almost over, the sun is shining and the pace of weddings and other ceremonies in Montville and the Sunshine Coast picks up for the next few months. Sunshine Coast Hinterland Wedding Venue

A delightful new venue for Sunshine Coast Weddings is about to open and I had the opportunity for a sneak preview as I am to conduct a wedding there in a couple of weeks time.

Camellia Place is in Palmwoods - just 15 minutes from Montville and 15 minutes from Maroochydore. It was once a pineapple farm, and boasts a simply gorgeous homestead and stunning gardens. There are some lovely locations within the garden to choose from for your ceremony. The old pineapple packing shed has been renovated in an elegant though rustic style and makes a perfect location for a lively wedding reception.

A wander along the meandering pathways of the gardens divulges opportunities for great photos. The owners, Doreen & Peter, have included many whimsical yet authentic touches designed to give a creative photographer great scope.

Ceremonies to Remember - Montville

Simon and Beth were recently married at Clovelly Estate, Montville. Theirs was a wedding with a difference, a unique ceremony, held under the sparkling jewels dangling from the branches of the ancient Jacaranda tree, containing touches of Celtic tradition combined with some Buddhist ideals. Montville Bar & Grill - a perfect place for a wedding.

Francis and Emma choose to be married at the Montville Bar & Grill - a place that holds special memories for them. They have enjoyed romantic getaways at the Montville Mountain Inn right next door and many a fine meal at the Bar & Grill.

It is just lovely to see a couple overcome the odds and find true love in each other. Emma and Francis are so well suited and much happiness awaits them as they walk into the future together.

Francis and Emma choose ivory for their wedding outfits and it was a colour that showed off Emma's magnificent auburn hair to perfection. The lace detail incorporated into Emma's dress added a lovely touch of elegance and glamour.

Emma and Francis concluded their ceremony with the exchange of Roses as their first gift to each other as husband and wife. This follows on from Francis's personal tradition of giving Emma a rose as often as possible to show his love and care for her.

Emma & Francis - may you know much joy as you travel life's pathways together.

A wedding under the trees at Clovelly Estate

Simon and Beth choose the lovely Spicers Clovelly Estate for their magical Montville Wedding. They held a very personal, heartfelt ceremony in the morning. Beth's Dad offered some poignant words of wisdom to the lovely couple - at times amusing, at times deep and insightful. Through his words he clearly demonstrated his love for his daughter and his delight in her chosen husband.

Beth paid great attention to detail as she set about creating hers and Simon's 'sacred space' for their marriage ceremony. Photographs of much loved, but absent family, adorned the signing table along with special trinkets and treasures. An aunt created some lovely crystal bead work that was strung from the branches of the Jacaranda tree to sparkle in the sunlight as Beth and Simon stood beneath and took their vows.

Clovelly's marvellous chef, Cameron Matthews produced a mouth-watering high-tea breakfast for Simon and Beth to enjoy with their guests immediately after the ceremony. This was followed by an evening of degustation delight as the celebrations continued.

Once again, it was my pleasure to work with photographer, Jodi Macdonald. Jodi is a consummate professional and her work is always truly stunning.

Montville Celebrant goes to Norfolk Island

I have been a little quiet for the last couple of weeks - lovely hubby and I took ourselves off to Norfolk Island for a spot of relaxation.

Lots of lovely, if quite exhausting, bushwalking, spectacular, very dramatic ocean and cliff views, historical explorations, lovely gardens and of course, great food and just a spot of shopping .....

A "fish fry" at Puppy's Point, watching the sunset, listening to live music was a magical evening.

Tom and Gillian made a deep connection because they each shared a similar view for their future - and so they chose the lovely Flaxton Gardens, with it's magnificent view across the coast, right down to the ocean past Maroochydore, to celebrate their wedding. The beauty of their chosen wedding ceremony location reflects the inner beauty created by their love for each other.
I really don't think I have ever seen a smile as broad as Thomas's when he first spied Gill in her beautiful ruched ivory gown as she stood at the top of the steps with her Dad, Max. Gillian radiated love, joy and absolute certainty in the commitment she was making - and Tom gave it all right back to her. What a delightful couple!

Tom's lovely daughter, Ariel, was a lovely bridesmaid, caring for the two delightful flower-girls. It was also her duty to present the rings to Tom and Gill at the appropriate time - this she did with poise and grace - Well done Ariel!
Shelby, Gillian's Maid of Honour, presented a lovely reading that brought tears to many an eye.
And finally, amidst great applause, the Certificate of Marriage was presented. Tom and Gill obviously appreciate and value the close family ties and many friendships they enjoy together.

As I write this they are celebrating their marriage at the home of Gill's parents in Maleny. Tom & Gill - I wish you every happiness and great joy as you explore your beautiful view together.

A break from weddings in Montville

I had to share this photo I took using the camera on my phone.
I went down to Lake Baroon (aka Baroon Pocket Dam) early this morning for a couple of hours of kayaking - simply beautiful. The early morning mists floating gently on the dark, still surface of the water and slowly, slowly lifting as the sun rose and warmed the air. As the mist and fog lifted the the surrounding trees and blue sky and fluffy clouds water were mirrored on the lake's surface. It was a brisk 16C, but the paddling kept the body warm.

The wonderful Montville resorts of Narrows Escape and Secrets on the Lake both border on Lake Baroon - both places provide superb accommodation and lovely venues for a wedding ceremony.

Clovelly Estate, Montville - a joyous elopement

In the dappled shade of the ancient Jacaranda tree, Martin and Louise exchanged their vows in an intimate wedding ceremony in front of close friends, Analise, Jeff, Daniel and Alison. Their happiness was evident, firstly by the giggles emanating from within the cottage as the girls finished their preparations and once Louise appeared looking simply stunning in her strapless, ivory gown, both she and Martin wore smiles as wide as their faces would allow. They certainly infected us all with their joy.
Clovelly Estate, Montville is a wonderfully romantic venue for an intimate wedding and its natural beauty was enhanced by lovely floral arrangements by Montville florist Mel of Flourish Design.

Martin and Louise's day was captured in photographs by the fabulous and fun to be around Jodi McDonald.

A Truly Spiritual Ceremony of Marriage

"I would rather spend one lifetime with you then face all the ages of this world alone." ~ In my mind, this couple are the embodiment of the love shared between Aragorn and Arwen.
Caitlin and Shima chose a beautiful spot at Moffat Headland that is sacred to them. With the blue sky above and the rolling ocean below, nestled in their sacred grove of Pandanus, we celebrated their marriage.
The ceremony, that we created together, was quite free-flowing, but contained elements that held special meaning for Shima and Caitlin - from the beginning set up with the lighting of the candle and the presentation of the sword, their personal songs to each other at the exchange of rings and the finale as Caitlin sang her own beautiful composition "Love's Legacy".

Even with the wee pause in proceedings, as Simon and Rosemary made a quick dash to retrieve the beautiful Claddagh rings from on the coffee table in the unit, was used as a special moment to reflect on our beautiful surroundings and the significance of the ritual being enacted!

The significance of the Claddagh Rings reflects Caitlins Irish heritage:

The hands are there for friendship

The heart is there for love

For loyalty throughout the year,

The crown is raised above.

Montville Country Cabins in April

Michelle and Dan chose a small, intimate ceremony to celebrate their marriage. The lovely lagoon at Montville Country Cabins provided a lovely backdrop on an almost sunny day. When we met the day before to go over the last minute details Michelle's biggest worry was that it would rain as she really wanted a lovely outdoors wedding. We went to bed to cloud and drizzle and awoke to glorious sunshine!
Michelle and Dan make a truly lovely couple and we all smiled to see Michelle 'escorting' her Dad to the ceremony rather than the other way around - I think Dad was dawdling a bit too much as she struggles to contain her excitement.
Michelle looked quite stunning in her lovely bronze coloured lace dress with her hair done in a very elegant style by Mel at Velvet Hair and Wedding Boutique.
Brett & Kristie from ngg Studios were their photographers on the day.
A lovely touch at this wedding was Michelle's 3 week old nephew was the ring-bearer and he did a great job of not crying once nor dropping the tightly tied rings into the lagoon!

At the Little White Wedding Church, Maleny

The Little White Wedding Church was the location that Meg and Dave chose for their wedding ceremony. This is a beautiful little restored church that is ideal for couples, like Dave and Meg, who want a traditional feel to their wedding ceremony but who may not have any church affiliation. Meg and Dave's family and friends came from as far afield as Melbourne and Sydney for a lovely weekend in Montville to celebrant their marriage with them.
During Meg and Dave's ceremony a little of their personal journey as a couple was told, their beliefs and reasons for marriage we spoken of and a couple of close friends presented special blessings and readings to the happy couple. I loved Meg's 'thumbs-up' as they were pronounced 'husband and wife" - a lovely spontaneous gesture!

The Little White Wedding Church is a lovely venue in which to hold a ceremony.
As a celebrant - it has wonderful acoustics for both music and speaking thus ensuring all guests (it seats around 100 guests) can hear all aspects of the ceremony. I also found Trevor very easy to work with and accommodating to my needs to ensure the ceremony was presented in best way possible.
As a guest - A lovely courtyard in which to wait and comfortable seating in air-conditioned comfort once inside.
As a couple - you can relax knowing that Trevor has all the little details under control, your guests are comfortable, the groom and his supporters have a comfortable area to wait and you have a wonderful location for some stunning photographs of your most special day.

Japanese and English Wedding Ceremony

Scott and Tomoko's wedding ceremony was another one at First Bay, Coolum on a lovely sunny, but very windy day. Tomoko's family and friends were coming from Japan for her marriage ceremony but they spoke very little English. Fortunately I can speak some Japanese and so was delighted to present their ceremony in both languages.

After several meetings with them to gather information and learn what they wanted included, I prepared their ceremony in English and then Tomoko translated it into Japanese. They chose to include a Sand Ceremony where their parents poured the base layers, representing the foundations of each of their lives and they together then added to top layer - to represent their unity.

Coolum, First Bay Wedding

Angie and Anthony celebrated their marriage in front of around 100 family and friends at the lovely First Bay, Coolum. They made great use of ritual in their ceremony to establish their own family traditions as they move into their shared future.

Their guests held Blessing Stones throughout the ceremony, Angie and Antz held an Oathing Stone as they spoke their personally written vows and finally they symbolized family unity through the pouring together of sands from each of their family homes, their place of engagement all topped off with a handful each of sand from Coolum, the place of their marriage. This sub-ceremony involved their parents and themselves and was a touching acknowledgment of the importance of their parents in their continuing lives.
This ceremony really used the full potential of a Civil Celebrant officiating at your wedding to completely personalize the ceremony.

Mango Hill Farm, Peachester Wedding

Mango Hill is a working farm in Peachester - about 20 minutes from Montville and a truly lovely location for a wedding. Renae and her bridesmaids stayed in the lovely 'Dove Cottage' the night before the wedding and so all preparations for them were on site - a lovely relaxed way to prepare for the most important day of your life!
Renae looked simply stunning in her white gown with black lace inserts and Travis' gorgeous twin daughters were delightful flower girls, if a wee bit overwhelmed by the occasion.

Travis and Renae were a lot of fun to work with and their wedding was a joyous occasion.

For the last week Natalie has been praying for just a little sunshine so that her marriage ceremony to the lovely Martin could take place outdoors at Flaxton Gardens. Her gods listened as, whilst it may not have been exactly shining, the rain did stay away.
And then - at a very crucial moment in the ceremony - just as Martin and Natalie were exchanging their vows - the sun broke through the clouds and shone on them both - what a wonderful portent for their future.
Martin and Natalie are a wonderful young couple with a very strong family support network - they are destined for a long and happy life together.

A few days after their wedding,Natalie and Martin sent this beautiful thank you note, which is very much appreciated.

Lake Weyba - truly a Ceremony to Remember!

Katie, from QLD and Derek from NZ crossed the oceans to eventually meet in London. They are both 'children of the sea' and so choose this lovely spot near to the ocean for their wedding. At 45 minutes, theirs was one of the longer ceremonies that I have done, but with various family and friends presenting readings from texts ranging from the Bible to Dr Seuss, along with the pouring together of the waters from QLD, NZ, Croatia, where they were engaged and London, where they met, it was one very special and profound ceremony and time seemed to not matter fro the duration - the guests were quietly engaged throughout the ceremony. Katie and Derek's strong bond and strong commitment to family was so evident - may they know much joy and little sorrow as they journey together.

Secrets by the Lake, Montville

Malcolm and Harriette choose Secrets because of the many happy times they had spent there. Theirs was to be the first at the 'Secret Garden' that George & Aldy had built down by Lake Baroon. Unfortunately the rain came down and so their ceremony was held on the veranda of the main house. Harriette looked simply stunning in her beaded, lace gown as she walked down the aisle to meet her handsome, soon to be husband. Lake Baroon in the background, although misty was a beautiful backdrop. I wish them " felix felicis" - happiness.

Karl and Emma believe that their commitment is in their hearts, rather than in words spoken, hence they choose a very simple, yet deeply spiritual ceremony to mark their marriage. It was obvious to all 60 or so family and friends present that love and mutual respect are at the core of their relationship.
I am sure they all enjoyed their magnificent 'High Tea' at Flaxton Gardens after the ceremony.

Wayne and Miriam are a truly delightful couple from a western Queensland dairy farm. Miriam was born in Germany and so she wore a traditional German dirndl that her Mother had made for her. Their wedding gave them a very good excuse to take a holiday for the daily work of running a dairy farm.

Pipiann and Shane have been married for wonderful 10 years and wanted their family and friends to share in their joy as they reaffirmed in their presence, and in the presence of their wonderful children, their love for one another.

Melissa & Duane, along with around 50 family and friends gathered on the deck of Picnic Creek Cottage at Tree Houses of Montville to celebrate their wedding with a tropical, frangipani theme.

Montville village provided many lovely locations for beautiful photographs.
